PSP Firmware 3.51 Security Patch

PSP Firmware 3.51

A new firmware update for the PSP was made available on June 29, 2007. In Sony’s typical security revision verbiage, the update is meant to “address security vulnerabilities in the system software.” The new firmware is now available via network update and manual download.

In summary, if you install this, you get NO new features, but prevent the posibility of ever downgrading or using custom firmware….

Whilst I currently have 3.50, as it’s delivered nice featutes, I won’t be picking this up. Sony should bundle security fixes with compelling features, if they want people to take the upgrades…

Its kinda a shame that sony is trying so hard to block homebrew, it utalised the psp way more than sony could ever, but hey, its a business ploy, I guess.

And they wonder why the DS sales are overtaking the PSP’s. *Sigh*
