Sony Launches Latest in NW-E Series

NWE015

The product your looking at (above) was launched a few weeks ago, but I refuse to post a news story unless there are some high quality pictures freely available to the press. Is that absurd? Probably.

Nonetheless, Sony has released a very attractive looking series of Walkman compared to last generation for the successful entry-level NW-E line, of which have the standard robot-esque model numbers NW-E013 (1gb), NW-E015 (2gb), and NW-E016 (4gb). The NW-E016 will only be available in Black or Violet, and the other models will have Black, Violet, Blue and Pink color options available (regional differences may apply). The usual codecs are supported (ATRAC, MP3, WMA, AAC, etc) and it features a 3 Line Colour OLED that can display album art and other information just like the interface in the NW-S70* series. Charging is done via USB, and should have about 28 hour battery life using mediocre ATRAC3plus bitrates.

The NW-E013 and NW-E015 will also have a radio variation that will allow users to listen to their favorite FM stations accordingly. Pricing should be comparable to the previous NW-E series.

Am I the only person who thinks it looks like lipstick? Very chic and strictly for the women, I think.

It’s pretty, but not as beautiful as the s700F line

Why this player isn’t even on Sony’s american store? Not even the NW-A800 series have made an appearance there.

Saw the A800 listed in Pulse (the Australian Sony catalogue).

And the service manual is now available-no US model, only Canada will get it Stateside.

I won’t post a link to it even though I have the manual-as it’s on the password protected Sony “ESI” site.
