Connect Music Store - New UI

Sony Connect has relaunched with an enhanced user interface and expanded features. The fresh, new look for the Connect Music store includes:

  • a new navigation menu structure that makes it easier to find the songs you want from our catalog of over two million tracks
  • a new Artist Discovery applet that provides links between an artist and his/her influences, or other musicians influenced by the artist
  • expanded editorial information including more editors picks and artist interviews

Please check it out at Connect.com, or within the SonicStage application for Sony digital music devices.

Feel free to leave feedback for Sony about the Connect service via the comment feature of this blog entry and we’ll forward it back to Sony!

Yeah yeah…. could be cool SONY EUROPE could do the same…
‘Cause in Europe still has the same shit as usual. Why sony hasn’t choose a worldwide structure like Itunes, where you could choose your country and have several accounts per country…. pffffff

Connect stire will never NEVER work if they don’t start doing the same basic features as Itunes music store, and add a couple more original features…

Same for SSCP…

Is this just Connect US, or had this happened in all Connect stores? I think I’ll go check Connect UK now.

Well, if your are going to forward comments to Sony:

I use the European Connect service to buy my music tracks. Sometimes I’m disappointed by the time it takes for new tracks that appear on the site. e.g. Beyonces new singles (released by Sony BMG!) are still not available on the European site.

I think the American site is better in this regard, so I’d really like the European site to do the same.

Scrap the whole system, start again from the drawing board, change the name, have a big bang release with new nano beating DAPS (8-10GB) and Sony will finally have a bite of its own Apple.

Yet another Sony non-event.
Still no SonyConnect Music store available in Australia.

Sony think Globally not Regionally.

I don’t think they’re EVER going to set up Connect Music Store in Australia, unfortunately . . .

Hi, this is Steve Banfield, head of Sony’s Connect service in the US. The site changes are for the US store only. The coupon code that has been posted however is not valid — well it is, but only for the first person to use it.

I hope you like our new US store design. I agree with some of the comments we need to be consistent across the Sony US and EU stores. However Sony’s always operated to allow the each region to create locally appropriate marketing and service experiences. We don’t want to just impose what we do in one region on another country or region where it might not work as well for cultural or other local reasons. However the US and EU teams talk frequently and we’ll work with them to see if there aren’t things we’ve done in the US that they can use to improve the EU site.

Thanks for all the feedback and for continuing to support Sony and Connect.

Steve

The new look, to me, is more reminiscent of I-Tunes than ever. Sony continues to borrow gratuitously from Apple. They would really gain ground if the radio service was free, as it is on Apple.

One problem with the store is that it does not work with internet explorer 7. It probably would if the browser check would accept it, which I am sure would be easy to fix.

Well today it is compatible with IE7, go and get the last upgrade of IE7 and you’re done!

When is Sony going to have the Connect store available in Canada? If we can buy ATRAC players here, why can’t we buy online music in ATRAC format? I would think it’s in their best interest!!
