NW-E002F/E003F/E005F Firmware Update Version 2.0

Sony today released the firmware upgrade for Network Walkmans NW-E002F/E003F/E005F. The firmware update is of version 2.01 and amount to approximately 4,534KB.

NEW FEATURES:

  • Playback of AAC format* on the Network Walkman is available. It enables the transfer of AAC file on SonicStage CP 4.0 without converting to ATRAC format.
    *Note: Below is the format of the AAC file which can be played back with the Network Walkman:
    - AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)
    - Sampling frequency: 11.025/12/16/22.05/24/32/44.1/48 kHz
    - Bit rate: 16 – 320 kbps, VBR(Variable Bit Rate) is supported.
    - AAC file which is copy protected or encrypted one cannot be played back.
    - It is not guaranteed that all AAC files can be played back even if the above conditions are met.

It does play mp3’s. Use sonicstage CP installed from the link to transfer the music files. (not drag and drop from windows explorer).

or sonicstage on the CD supplied with it.
It also plays wma and sony’s Atrac formats

If you install the firmware update you will also be able to play AAC files (as used by Apple).

Does anyone know when these units will be available in the U.S.? Or do you know where they can be purchased overseas? I tried placing an order overseas, but all retailers said they will not ship MP3 players to the U.S.

hi…my mp3 very weird. how come most of my songs in mp3 format cannot be play? they do not appear in the all songs section.

This sony thing suck!!!!

it cant play mp3, need to convert using sonicstage & this software even suck, it ‘hang’ most of the time as i have to plug un plug, NO Drag & drop NOT use frindly at all!!

I’m so regret i buy this piece of crap!!!!

I still have this pieace of junk and it was working but, since I format my pc for some obscure reason now sonic stage is telling me that for some reason it’s not able to transfer the data…. bla bla bla…
