SanDisk Corporation Announces 4GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo

Just when we thought that Sony’s MSRP of $250 for the upcoming 4GB Memory Stick Duo Pro was great, SanDisk strikes back with its own 4GB variant. The SanDisk Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo will be available this March for MSRP $239.

It’s important to note that this 4GB variant is of SanDisk’s Ultra II line. If SanDisk’s historical price system holds, we should expect the standard version of SanDisk’s 4GB Memory Stick Duo Pro to be under the $200 mark.

Yes, most definitely with the next PSP firmware.

Interesting… This makes the 4GB cards cheaper than that 4GB HDD/battery pack/grip thing for the PSP which adds bulk to the PSP! Saw that HDD selling for something like $299 CDN… Obviously whatever company makes that either needs to cut their price in half, or they are not going to be selling any of them given the prices of the higher capacity MS Pro Duos…

Will SonicStage support this memory? If it does, I know what is on my Christmas list!

Yes, it will. The next PSP firmware will likely include support for larger capacity MS Pro Duos. Note: SonicStage only facilitates music management between the PSP and the software. The hardware itself needs to have that support.
