MDR-710LP (Sony @ CES 2006)
Sony presented a ultraportable headphone that was reminscent of the ‘eggo’ line from years ago dubbed MDR-710LP. I wore it for about a minute, and it was connected to a NW-E507; I would say it’s a fair headphone for the price if you can’t score an ‘eggo’ and want something compact and convienant but can also take a bruising. The sound was nothing to write home about (hence why I’m writing here, boohoo) — bass present, no real clarity in the midrange with accelerated and troubling highs — but I’d recommend it to someone who doesn’t mind spending $59.95 (msrp) for the heck of it.

A picture of its amazing folding ability, after the jump..

I don’t have that many details, but google around the model number and you’ll be fine.

Hmm, is it just me or do those remind me of the PX100s?
They would appear identical to the average pedestrian. I should’ve added that to the description..
Sony released a pair of open phones and a pair of closed phones — so perhaps a reaction to the px100/200 and their AKG rivals doing fairly well in Japan.
folds like the audio-technica’s ultra portable line not like the px1/200s that fold like sunglasses.
[...] i saw a pair of Sony MDR-710LP’s at target the other day when lisa and I were out. they didn’t use any active noise canceling and also folded up. For about 50$ they didn’t seem that bad. Having learned my lesson with my ‘bag buying’ experience I checked out a couple of review sites to see what they were worth. A click here and a click there led me to PX 200’s. They fold up just like I want them too and seem to deliver better sound than the sony pair, always a plus. [...]
