VAIO Wireless PC Audio System (Sony @ CES 2006)

An interesting wireless unit debuted during CES that has a very similar facade to the Compact Premium Audio System we mentioned earlier today. Just like most of the hardware that has debuted at CES, details are a little slim but apparently it will work flawlessly with Sonicstage and Connect Player — meaning Sonicstage may see another version after 3.3. Details and a few pictures after the jump..

Surprisingly, the unit will have 802.11b+g built in which allows it to connect to a PC; if one were not keen on such then they could remove the LCD portion and plug in their Walkman. So essentially, the LCD portion is a glorified remote control. Just like the Compact Premium Audio System, this device will have a S-Master Digital Amp and small sub and line in. Users can enjoy multiple source playback from multiple rooms as the device will be compatible programs other than Sony’s music management software(s). No release date or MSRP was available at this time, but it should arrive in March, 2006.

A nice device though not necessary for me as I live in a one-room mansion. What I am excited about is the prospect of another upgrade to SS.
