Compact Premium Audio System (Sony @ CES 2006)
Sony debuted a new portable speaker set for the NW-A3000 + NW-A1000 featuring the S-Master Digital Amplifier. Model number, specs and so forth are not available at this time and the demo unit was not very functional. From what I could tell, it will have a “surround” type option for sound, line in, and infrared remote capabilities. It did however sound extremely good for a portable speaker set; bass was actually present instead of transparent and reasonably tight which is very uncommon amongst such setups. It will be a hot seller, and should debut in March, 2006 — pictures after the jump.

[...] An interesting wireless unit debuted during CES that has a very similar facade to the Compact Premium Audio System we mentioned earlier today. Just like most of the hardware that has debuted at CES, details are a little slim but apparently it will work flawlessly with Sonicstage and Connect Player — meaning Sonicstage may see another version after 3.3. Details and a few pictures after the jump.. [...]
If it is portable will it be able to operate on battery power? How many (what sized) batteries will be needed to run it?
“bass was actually present instead of transparent” ..
This is a rather unusual use of the word “transparent” as relates to audio.
Transparency by my reading of reviews [around 15 years worth] always implies a positive, i.e. uncoloured.
You might consider changing this to read “actually present instead of lacking” or something.
